applications on all end devices.

Adobe first published the Creative Cloud in October 2011 and since then has offered nearly all of its new products via these rental licenses. The current version, CC 2019, which has been on the market since July 2019, can be downloaded on the Internet like all Cloud versions. The once popular Creative Suite has not been renewed since 2013. Only individual desktop programs such as Adobe Acrobat can still be acquired without a Creative Cloud subscription.

Creative Cloud is available in various packages for single users, smaller companies, and large organizations from business and the education sector. You can choose between subscriptions to individual programs, which can obtained by single users from approximately US$ 9.99 a month, or a complete subscription, starting at around US$ 50 a month. The latter contains more than 20 desktop applications and mobile apps, including

Photoshop CC and, for example, Illustrator CC. In addition, a subscription tailored expressly to photographers containing the programs Photoshop CC, Photoshop Lightroom CC, and Lightroom is offered in mobile form, costing about US$ 9.99 a month or US$ 119 a year. For students, there is a less expensive variant of the complete subscription for around US$ 19.99 a month. Annual subscriptions can be paid for either monthly or in advanced as a prepaid package. Surprisingly, the annual costs of the different payments do not differ.

So-called Software as a Service always keeps users up to date, referring to updates and additional features as soon as they are available. Files can be saved either on your own computer or in the 20 GB of Cloud storage provided for each user. This enables different end devices to have access to the files stored. With a company subscription, the online storage capacity is 100 GB. Since the user’s own data is synchronized with the online repository, the user can even access them on the move with his iPhone or Android device and share them with others more easily. Given the high capacity of the Cloud storage, saving files on external hard drives or the like becomes superfluous.

Contrary to popular opinion, the user does not have to always be online to use the programs, since the applications are stored on his own device. An Internet connection is needed for downloading, which can be performed and registered with a personal Adobe ID. In addition, the license has to be validated, every 30 days with a monthly subscription – a requirement that can be a strain now and then. Those who have an annual subscription can use their software online for up to 99 days. Those who have an older computer should apprise themselves of the technical prerequisites for the Cloud. For the current version, macOS Sierra (10.12) or higher is needed. If you are on an older version, Apple provides a free update to macOS High Sierra. The same applies to Windows. Microsoft Windows 10 should be installed.

Although critics complain about the fact that their own files have to be saved on a foreign server, this option enables users to access and share these files at any time on different end devices. That saves work steps and work time.
